Quinta das Canas has become a rarity among its kind: self-sufficient, sunny and quiet riverfront location, lots of own water through a well and a bore hole, proximity to the famous hotspots of the Algarve (Lagos, Portimão, Alvor), with two of the most beautiful, stunning beaches of the Algarve, Meia Praia and Praia dos três Irmãos.

The land, mostly flat, fertile and profound, is easily accessible by a tractor for an easy maintenance.

Property Layout

The habitation is a one-storey house and consists of a living area with a large living room and fireplace, a homey kitchen with direct access / exit to the garden, storage room, built-in cupboards, bedroom and bathroom with a bathtub.

Furthermore there is a bright and comfy guest apartment, which consists of a living room with integrated kitchen with direct access / exit to the exterior sitting area, a bedroom with built-in wardrobes and a bathroom.

In addition to that there is also a separate guest room with its own bathroom and entrance.

The entire house is heated through a so called duo-therm stone heating system, which is a very effective heating source with very little electricity consumption.

A solar warm water system is also in place, but not connected.

Water supply:

The water supply, as well as the irrigation of the land, house and garden with fruit trees is granted all year around through a water-rich well and an additional bore hole.

A water deposit is placed on an elevated position, providing a simple irrigation possibility through gravity.

Different electric pumps, automatic irrigation systems with drip irrigation and underground water tubes provide an autonomous, time-saving irrigation of the entire property.

The river, which is located on the lower part of the property, usually runs water until July and goes dry until the first rain.

The average monthly costs for the electricity are about 100€ including heating and pumps.

The river area is a natural habitat for several rare species of birds, such as the astrildid finches and the pirol oriolus.

The land is a strap of about 400×50 m. In the lower flat third are the buildings and gardens, the upper two thirds consist mainly of rock roses and a few eucalyptus trees.

The latter part is not developed, except for the water deposit.

On the very top of the property there is sea view.

In terms of fruit trees there are oranges, mandarines, lemons, grapefruits, bitter oranges for jam, pomegranates, kakis, apricots, plums, apples, pears, different kinds of table grapes, vine grapes, almonds, quinces, strawberries, figs and peaches.
