This idyllic refuge enjoys a sunny, quiet, private and elevated location in the midst of a nature reserve area, yet just 5 minutes away from the characteristic town of Nisa.

It lies hidden and secluded on top of a small hill, protected from the views of the outside, with its own water from a bore hole, registered residential building, outbuilding, lots of very old olive trees, shady cork oaks, gardening area and pastures in the midst of beautiful nature.

There’s an idyllic and unexplored fishing and swimming lake within walking distance. A solid basis to heal the body, mind and soul…

Property Layout

There are two buildings, one registered residential natural-stone building with a footprint of 83 m2, and a brick-stone outbuilding of 31 m2. The residential building was never used as such, and is not equipped as a residence except for the bathroom. However, since it’s registered as one, it can be transformed / renovated on the existing footprint without any building permits.

The outbuilding is registered as an outbuilding and can be used and expanded as such. There’s also a big customary fireplace.

With a building entry / project the residential building can be expanded by 50%, which makes about 125 m2. However, due to bureaucratic and expense-reasons we do not recommend that.

If one desires more space, there are other possibilities through mobile buildings and similar solutions.

We also recommend to obtain the electricity through a solar-system. Thus you’ll be able to enjoy a completely autonomous lifestyle.

The buildings are located on top of the terraced and sloping property and offer a nice view over the surrounding nature. The borehole – 70 metres deep – is also located on the top area of the property, providing enough water throughout the year to sustain people, animals and garden.

The entrance to the Quinta goes through the low-frequented country road, which leads from Nisa to Montalvão. There are two entrance gates and you can drive with a normal car up to the house.

Behind the buildings there’s lots of cork oaks in different sizes, with beautiful and romantic spots to place yurts or tipis.

Furthermore there are several fig trees and timber trees.

The property, due to its layout, is well suited for a permaculture project, an eco-retreat, or similar projects.

Location and Distances

3 kilometres to both Nisa and to the swimming / fishing lake. There’s also another bigger lake in about 4 km distance, called Albufeira do Poio. The well known and touristic lake Albufeira da Povoa e Meadas is about 10 kilometres away.

From Nisa there’s good connections to the exterior world (Portalegre 20 minutes, Lisbon 2 hours).

There’s also a bus station in Nisa, with daily routes from and to Lisbon.
